From the article: “It’s hard to imagine anyone else but Harrison Ford playing the role of Han Solo, and yet with the revelation that one of Disney’s proposed “Star Wars” spin-off films will feature a young version of the Millennium Falcon captain in a standalone story, the possibility of another actor stepping in for Ford has now become a reality.”
Some of their suggested casting choices are abysmally bad (Jay Baruchel? Was that junk a link-baiting joke?) while other suggestions they offered I could actually see taking on the part and doing it justice: Jamie Bell, Taylor Kitsch, Zach Efron, Josh Hutcherson.
It all depends on how young the studio executives want to go — do they want to make it a movie about a *very* young Han Solo, or do they want it to be Han Solo shortly before he meets up with Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia?
If they’re willing to cast a little older, then I like their already proffered idea of Chris Pine (but isn’t he already busy being Captain Kirk?), but would also include Jensen Ackles and Joshua Jackson on the list. And there’s always Chris Evans, Jake Gyllenhaal or Ryan Gosling, as long as we’re talking about Hollywood movie stars.
But somehow I see Robert Pattinson edging his way to the front of the line. Movie studios want a big name for guaranteed buzz and opening weekend box office returns, and Pattinson is one of the biggest right now.
It’d be a terrible choice, but that doesn’t mean they won’t make it (I’m sure if they thought they could get away with Daniel Radcliffe, they would).
I’m also cracking myself up with the thought of Justin Timberlake — “Suit and tie, lasers in your eye!”
And as comedian Andy Levy stated:
I adamantly concur.
Who’s your idea of a young Han Solo?
