The Snow White and the Huntsman director pleaded with his wife Liberty Ross to forgive him after it emerged he had an affair with the 22-year-old Twilight star.
And while Kristen’s boyfriend Robert Pattinson is not so quick to forgive and reportedly asked her to leave the home they shared, there appears to still be hope for Rupert’s marriage.
The 41-year-old emerged in Los Angeles on Monday for the first time since the scandal broke less than a week ago with his wedding band still firmly on his finger.
Meanwhile a producer who worked with Kristen took to Twitter to claim that the actress’s fling with Rupert was not sexual.
“I’ll say right now what the manipulative media isn’t saying,” Giovanni Agnelli wrote. “Kristen Stewart did not have any type of sex with Rupert Sanders.”
People magazine has also reported that claims allegedly made by Liberty’s brother Leopold that Kristen and Rupert’s affair had been going on for months is inaccurate.
“Contrary to inaccurate reports, neither Liberty Ross nor any member of her family has spoken to the media,” a source very close to the family said.
